About Avon

Avon’s story began in 1896, when the founder, David H. McConell founded his entrepreneurship called California Parfume in New York. The then 28 years old McConell was a travelling book agent trying to make his books more sellable by distributing fragrance samples to potential customers. In a short period of time it became obvious that the fragrance samples were more successful than the books themselves, therefore he began to sell cosmetics. With the growth of his business, he started to work with Representatives, who delivered the ordered goods to the homes of customers and gave useful tips to them, if needed.  In 1939 the company took the name of AVON Products Incorporated, named after the birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford Upon Avon.

For 130 years Avon has stood for women: providing innovative, quality beauty products which are primarily sold to women, through women.  Millions of independent Representatives across the world sell iconic Avon brands such as Avon Color and ANEW through their social networks, building their own beauty businesses on a full- or part-time basis.  Avon supports women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship and well-being and has donated over $1billion to women’s causes through Avon and the Avon Foundation.

Belief is the cornerstone of empowering Associates to assume responsibilities and be the very best they can be. Believe in someone — and show it — and that person will move mountains to prove you’re right.

Integrity should be the hallmark of every Avon Associate. In setting and observing the highest ethical standards and doing the right thing, we fulfill a duty of care, not only to our Representatives and customers in the communities we serve, but to our colleagues and ourselves.

Respect helps us to value differences, to appreciate each person for her or his unique qualities. Through respect, we help bring out the full potential of each person.

Trust means we want to live and work in an environment where communications are open — where people feel free to take risks, to share their points of view and to speak the truth as they see it. Trust people to do the right thing — and help them to understand your underlying reasoning and philosophy — and they won’t disappoint.

Humility simply means we’re not always right — we don’t have all the answers — and we know it. We’re no less human than the people who work for us, and we’re not afraid to ask for help.
